Start with safety and trust
Learning is much harder when a child feels overwhelmed, judged or under pressure. Sessions begin by building a calm, predictable relationship.
SEND & SEMH tutoring
Calm, personalised support for primary-aged children and young people working at a primary level—online, or in their own home across East Hertfordshire and West Essex.
A different kind of learning support
The goal is not to force a learner into a standard route. It is to understand what is getting in the way, reduce the pressure and help them move forward in a way that feels manageable.
Learning is much harder when a child feels overwhelmed, judged or under pressure. Sessions begin by building a calm, predictable relationship.
Activities are adapted around the learner's current level, communication style, interests and capacity on the day.
Progress may look like re-engaging, attempting something difficult, asking for help, tolerating uncertainty or rediscovering curiosity.
Academic skills matter, but so do confidence, emotional safety, resilience and a more positive relationship with learning.
The learning journey
Support can begin wherever the learner is now. Each stage is flexible, and progress is never treated as a race.
Understand the learner, the family and the barriers currently affecting education.
Create a low-pressure relationship in which the learner feels seen and respected.
Use flexible teaching, interests and achievable challenges to rebuild engagement.
Strengthen skills, confidence and independence one meaningful step at a time.

Meet Charlotte
I am a qualified teacher currently working in a SEND school. My approach combines professional knowledge with carefully shared lived experience as an AuDHD educator.
This does not mean assuming that every neurodivergent child experiences the world as I do. It means recognising how important flexibility, communication, emotional safety and genuine understanding can be.
Books & resources
The Little Steps library is being developed as a home for short picture books about common SEND and SEMH experiences, practical resources, and longer fantasy stories for more mature readers.
These will not be generic “fix the child” stories. The aim is to create thoughtful, emotionally honest books that offer recognition, language, hope and imagination.
