How personal information is collected, used and protected.

In plain English: Little Steps Big Strides collects only the information needed to answer enquiries, arrange tutoring, deliver services, keep appropriate records and meet legal or safeguarding responsibilities.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

Little Steps Big Strides is operated by Charlotte as an independent tutoring business. For data-protection questions, email charlotte@littlestepsbigstrides.co.uk.

2. Information that may be collected

  • Parent or carer name and contact details
  • Learner name, age, working level and relevant educational information
  • Availability, session preferences and communication records
  • Teaching plans, progress notes and agreed goals
  • Booking, payment and invoice information
  • Safeguarding information where a concern arises
  • Book-update preferences where you actively register interest

Please avoid sending unnecessary medical or highly sensitive information through public website forms.

3. Why information is used

4. Children's information

Most website enquiries should be made by a parent, carer or responsible adult. Children's information is treated with particular care, collected only where relevant and not used for behavioural advertising or profiling.

5. Who information may be shared with

Information is not sold. It may be shared only where necessary with:

  • Website hosting and form-processing providers
  • Booking and payment providers, such as Square, when those services are used
  • Professional advisers, insurers or accountants where necessary
  • Schools or other professionals where a parent or carer has agreed, unless there is a safeguarding or legal reason to share without consent
  • Police, children's services or other safeguarding bodies where required to protect a child or comply with law

6. How long information is kept

  • General enquiries that do not become clients: normally up to 12 months
  • Client administration, contracts, invoices and payment records: retained in line with tax, insurance and legal requirements
  • Teaching notes: reviewed after services end and kept only as long as reasonably necessary
  • Safeguarding records: retained and handled according to the nature of the concern and relevant professional or legal guidance
  • Book-update contact details: until you unsubscribe or the list is closed

7. Security and international processing

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information. Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards provided by the service provider and data-protection law will be relied upon.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict use of your information, object to certain uses, withdraw consent, and receive information in a portable format. Contact Charlotte to make a request.
